  • Yes. Heart of Acara Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial relief or amenities that improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with a terminal illness, and supporting community awareness and access to end-of-life care.

  • Heart of Acara Foundation is able to help with basic patient needs that are beyond what their traditional medical hospice benefit covers, such as an air-conditioner/heater for comfort, groceries, help with rent or a utility bill. 

  • Currently, Heart of Acara Foundation works collaboratively with the clinical teams at Acara Hospice to carry out patient wishes. A patient wish might be an outing to a favorite place, a special meal or a spa day.

  • Any of your Hospice team can help to prepare a Wish Grant Request to the Foundation, or you may contact Charli Smith by email at charli@heartofacarafoundation.org. Inquiries can also be made by calling 979-661-7441.

  • Heart of Acara Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All hospice patient wishes fulfilled by the Foundation are funded through donations from generous supporters.

  • ANY hospice patient who is living – or willing to live - in the area where the Heart of Acara Foundation's hospice house is located will be eligible to live there. Other factors, such as life expectancy and financial need, will apply. Access will not be limited to terminally ill patients who are on Acara Hospice; we intend for this to be a community hospice house.

     

    Any hospice agency who provides care for a patient in our hospice house will have an up-to-date business agreement on file.

  • Ideally, we hope to build the hospice house in a location that can be accessible to the majority of people in territories we are equipped to serve.
